What is the Canterbury Community Association? 
  • A non-profit incorporated body with an approved Constitution and By-Laws.

What does the Association do?

  • Provides affordable and accessible programming for all age groups such as a childrens' after school care program, adult & senior fitness, Taekwondo, Canterbury Dance Centre (tap, jazz, hip hop & ballet), and drop-in evenings for young adolescents.
  • Hosts special events such as a Christmas Craft Fair and a Spring Indoor Garage Sale.
  • Coordinates workshops which include St. John Ambulance CPR/First Aid courses.
  • Represents community interests in such areas as traffic, urban planning, site plans & budgets.
  • Sponsors municipal events such as All Candidates' Meetings during municipal elections.
  • Funds capital equipment purchases for the Centre.
  • Makes major capital expenditures such as the renovation of Centre facilities.
  • Provides financial assistance for such community improvements as area playground equipment.
  • Offers a scholarship program which recognizes the value of community involvement.
  • Provides a subsidy program for those requiring financial assistance to attend our programs, etc.
  • Provides grants to affiliate sports groups to allow more children to participate.
  • Makes donations such as art work to the The Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre and furniture to our local library.


Membership Costs?

  • Ten dollars ($10.00) for a Family Membership
  • Five dollars ($5.00) for an Individual Membership
  • Two dollars ($2.00) for a Seniors Membership
  • Membership is not required to take courses, however, fees for most courses are higher for non-members.
