The South Ottawa Community Police centre is jointly operated by the Ottawa Police Services and volunteers of the Canterbury Community Safety Advisory Council

The Council is a non-profit corporation, incorporated in September of 1991. The executive of the council is made up of 6 members of the community and the Police Officers serving at the South Ottawa Police center.



MISSION STATEMENT

In cooperation with the Ottawa Police Services we serve the people of the Canterbury Community by supplementing police services. We foster open communication between the community and the police and promote a safer community.

PURPOSES AND OBJECTIVES
The council shall bring the police, our community and members of our community closer together to create a safer environment in which to live and work.

  • To reduce the occurrence of crime.
  • To reduce the fear of crime.
  • To identify and develop creative methods for reducing community problems.
  • To increase community accessibility to police services.
  • To increase community involvement in the development and delivery of crime prevention and identified community programs and services.
  • To increase program delivery and services to all persons in the community.


  • PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

    Currently the center supports the following programs:
    Business Watch
    Neighborhood Watch
    Child Print
    Block Parent
    Home Security Checks


    Our volunteers are actively involved with the promotion and delivery of these programs within our community. In addition our volunteers assist as receptionist during business hours Monday to Friday.
